Youthline’s Partnership with ASB

Youthline is proud to have ASB as its Principal Partner. ASB has a long history of supporting the community with a particular focus on the next generation and on those most in need. As Youthline’s Principal Partner, ASB wants all young people to know that it’s okay to seek help, and that Youthline is there to offer free support.

ASB has helped bring on overnight Helpline counsellors so Youthline’s Helpline is now here for young people 24/7. Previously, Youthline’s midnight to 8.00am Helpline had been limited to crisis calls only but now young people can connect with a Helpline counsellor at any time of the day or night via phone or text message. No problem is too big or too small – it’s free, confidential and provides a space for young people to talk.

Together, Youthline and ASB have launched Youthline Leadership Connect, a school youth leadership programme aimed at improving the mental wellbeing of young New Zealanders. This programme is being piloted in selected secondary schools in 2023 and 2024.

The programme aims to strengthen access to wellbeing support within schools and within the community, by recognising the important role that teens can play in helping to navigate other young people to appropriate mental health support.

“ASB is proud to be partnering with Youthline to support the next generation of young New Zealanders. Our hope through this partnership is that any young New Zealander who is struggling knows they can reach out to Youthline for support. We want rangatahi to know that whatever’s going on, it’s ok to reach out and ask for help” says Vittoria Shortt, ASB CEO.
